The cover promises "fantastic menaces" ... but I only know this because I looked it up online. 'Cause David ripped off the cover. And the first several pages. Fantastic, indeed! Strange Tales Annual #1 is triple-thick with action! The first story features Shagg, Warrior from the Third Galaxy, who is controlling a giant stone machine that is a sphinx — like, we all thought that was just ancient Egyptian idolatry, but really it's an interdimensional war machine. David clearly loved that story, because he ate the first four pages of that, in addition to the front cover, the back cover, and some number of the last pages of this comic. Now that — that's love. Steve Ditko is all over this comic, with some fine Jack Kirby, too. Sweet stuff.
