Oaxacan Futures — Ejutla

The Ejutla region of Oaxaca is filled with numerous pueblos full of amazing people and delicious mezcal. Due to the social-distancing measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the vast majority of community events and visits from tourists and mezcal enthusiasts have been canceled. Understandably, these cancellations, coupled with the global slow-down of the spirits and hospitality industries, have left many Ejutecos feeling incredibly nervous about the future. Nevertheless, they continue the tradition of producing their incredible mezcal, as they have for generations.

In an effort to support the communities and families that comprise the UPADEC Co-operative and Banhez Mezcal, Director of Operations Luis Perez has spearheaded the formation of a mezcal-futures collection, highlighting numerous varietals of mezcal from 13 different Maestros located in Ejutla. Each spirit was produced using a refrescadora-style still, which is traditional for the region, and utilizes only fully matured agave. As with all Banhez mezcal, for every agave harvested, the members of the UPADEC co-op currently replant three.

After purchase, your bottles will be stored at the UPADEC Headquarters and can be picked up with a copy of your receipt. With proper notice we can also arrange for your mezcal to be delivered anywhere in Oaxaca City on your next visit. Please direct any questions to Alex Jandernoa.

When you order below, unless you know what you're doing, unfortunately you will have to order each item individually. You can add multiple bottles of any one item in each purchase, but you can't just click once and order, say, three different expressions. Sorry! And when you go to pay, the top button option is if you want to pay with a PayPal account -- the bottom button allows you to use your credit card.
